The Jeokmyeolbogung (Precious Hall of Ultimate Tranquility) is a sacred place where the true sarira of the Buddha is enshrined. The term 'Jeokmyeolbogung' signifies a precious palace where the mind remains unshaken by all external conditions and is free from defilements (kleshas). It embodies the state of enlightenment of the Buddha, free from greed, anger, and ignorance, and thus devoid of suffering. A distinctive feature of the Jeokmyeolbogung is that, due to the enshrinement of the Buddha's true sarira, a Buddha statue is not separately installed within the main hall; only an altar is present. This particular Jeokmyeolbogung is prominently situated in the center, surrounded like a folding screen by mountain ranges descending from Birobong Peak. It is regarded as an auspicious site (myeongdang), with some even likening its topography to a 'dragon toying with a wish-fulfilling jewel (yeouiju),' and has long been a revered destination for many.
