Sinwonsa is a temple located in the southwestern foothills of Gyeryongsan National Park. It is known as one of the three major temples of Gyeryongsan, along with Donghaksa and Gapsa. It was founded in the 11th year of King Uija of Baekje (651) and has undergone several reconstructions, with repairs in 1876 and 1946, maintaining its presence to this day. The current Sinwonsa is said to have moved its location after being destroyed during the Imjin War, and its original building site is presumed to be a wide field located south of Sinwonsa and Jungakdan. Boasting a long history, it houses the Nosanabul Gwaebultaeng, designated as a National Treasure, and its Daeungjeon, Jungakdan, Five-story Stone Pagoda, and the Standing Plaster Maitreya Buddha Statue of Sorimwon are designated as cultural heritage.
