Gyeong-eunsa Temple, nestled at the foot of Guhaksan Mountain, a spur of Chiaksan Mountain within the Taebaek Mountain Range, is a subordinate temple (mal-sa) of Bongseonsa Temple, the 25th district headquarters of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. This temple was founded in the late Goryeo Dynasty. In the mid-Joseon Dynasty, it was rebuilt by Seonsa Tanmyeong and was known as Dodeogam or Baekunam. After being destroyed by fire in 1939, it was rebuilt in 1940 by Monk Ungyeong and renamed Baekunsa. In 1942, it underwent another reconstruction and was renamed Gyeong-eunsa, its current name. In 1985, the current abbot, Monk Sugyeong, relocated and restored the Daeungjeon (Main Hall) and Samseonggak (Three Sages Shrine), leading to its present form.
