Haenamsa, located in Bukjeong-dong, Jung-gu, the heart of Ulsan Metropolitan City, is the Tongdosa Ulsan Propagation Center, established in 1936 by Seunim Guha Cheonbo (九河天輔), a great monk of modern times from Tongdosa Temple, for the propagation of Buddhism in the Ulsan region. At that time, while the Korean people were suffering from the sorrows of the Japanese colonial period, Seunim Guha vowed to relieve the suffering of the populace through the Dharma (Buddhist teachings), and thus opened the propagation center. After the propagation center was opened according to the monk's will, many monks followed, striving to preach the profound truths of the Dharma, and by enlightening the Buddhist followers in the local community, many religious organizations were formed, leading to active propagation activities.
