Daeheungsa Temple, located on Duryunsan Mountain, is a temple said to have been founded by Monk Ado in the 22nd year of King Seong of Baekje. It was inscribed on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list in 2018 under the name 'Sansa, Buddhist Mountain Monasteries in Korea.' Daeheungsa is a temple where the spirit of Hoguk Bulgyo (national protective Buddhism) thrives; it served as the main headquarters for the monk army led by Seosan Daesa during the Imjin War. Furthermore, Choui Seonsa, believing that the truth of Buddha and the joy of meditation were fully embodied in tea, entered the valley of Daeheungsa, built Iljiam Hermitage, and devoted himself to solitary practice for over 40 years. This devotion led to Daeheungsa becoming established as a sacred site for Korea's tea culture. Daeheungsa houses artifacts including the National Treasure, Seated Rock-carved Buddha at Bugmireugam Hermitage of Daeheungsa. In the Seosan Daesa Relics Museum, there are relics such as jade bowls and a jadeite bowl bestowed by King Seonjo, Seosan Daesa's own handwriting, a palanquin, shoes, and Buddhist scriptures written in gold and silver.
