Temple information

Anjeoksa is a temple located in Gijang-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan Metropolitan City, and is a branch temple of Beomeosa Temple, the head temple of the 14th district of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. Anjeoksa, where the legends of the ascetic practices of monks Wonhyo and Uisang have been handed down together, has been recorded since ancient times as one of the four great famous temples of Gijang-hyeon and was founded by Great Master Wonhyo of Silla. It was destroyed or abandoned until after the liberation of Korea, and was then rebuilt to reach its current state. Centered around the Daeungjeon (Main Hall), there are 10 buildings, including Samseonggak, Seolhyeondang, and Borimwon. The Daeungjeon is a multi-bracket style building with a hip-and-gable roof, featuring three bays on the front and three bays on the side. It was built around 1990 and enshrines a seated statue of Amitabha Buddha, Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva.
