Yeomburam is a subordinate temple of the 2nd district of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. The founding of Yeomburam is intertwined with the legend of Samseong Mountain. It is said that during the reign of King Munmu of Silla, three masters – Wonhyo, Uisang, and Yunpil – entered this mountain. Great Master Wonhyo founded Sammaksa, Great Master Uisang established Yeonjuam, and Layman Yunpil founded Yeomburam, with each reportedly leading a life of spiritual practice at their respective temples. Yeomburam's greatest pride is its magnificent scenery, where strangely shaped rocks that encircle the mid-slope of Samseong Mountain like a folding screen are harmonized with a lush forest. As the temple's buildings are located at different heights according to their hierarchy, one can enjoy a completely different view from each building. In particular, the panorama viewed from Chilseonggak is as beautiful as seeing a classical East Asian painting. (Source: Naemaemae Anyang)
